During the last part of my summer, I was honoured to be selected as a student volunteer at SIGRGRAPH 2019, the ACM festival on Computer Graphics in Los Angeles, California. In addition to that, I was awarded with a scholarship in order to attend the conference.

This adventure began when I traveled to California where the conference took place. During that week, I had the best opportunities on networking and immersing myself in the latest and most trending technologies. I had the chance to help speakers to prepare their conferences while they shared experiences and knowledge with me, besides helping attendees to interact with the venues.

Some of the conferences I had the opportunity to attend were: the talk given by Victoria Alonso from Marvel Studios’ Executive Vice President of Production studios; “Imaging a Black Hole with the Event Horizon Telescope” by Katherine Bouman, the girl who lead the team who took the first image of a black hole; “How Computer Graphics Expertise Will Further the State of the Art in Machine Learning” by Martin Wicke from Google an expert in artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, 3D printing, robots; among other wonderful speakers.

I also had the chance to attend the real time live, the competition where the best in real-time graphics come together for a live, the showcases cutting-edge real-time technology with a captive and world-wide audience; and the “Computer Animation Festival” to watch the best computer graphics from the past year in a two-hour showcase of amazing animation.

I left L.A. with new knowledge, new friends and a hunger for innovation. I look forward to making plans for the future, and keep creating technology for everyone.
